Which file formats do you work with?
We handle a large variety of file formats, including all common MS Office, LibreOffice and OpenOffice formats, but also PDF and JPG files.
You are also welcome to ask about any other file formats, including those that do not seem human-readable. We have translated more than 100 different file formats.
For the automated instant quote, the choice is more limited at the moment. The instant quote calculator accepts the following file formats:
- JPEG, JPG, PNG
- DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, TXT
Do you work with other languages besides those accepted by the quote calculator?
Yes, certainly! The calculator offers only the most common language pairs - should you need translation from or into languages not supported by the calculator, please contact our customer support here and we’ll be sure to find a solution.
What can I do if the quote calculator isn’t working?
Please empty the cache of your browser. You can do that by simultaneously pressing Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac) on your keyboard.
How much do you use machine translation and does this mean that you use Google or another publicly available machine translation engine?
Using machine translation depends on the nature of the source material. A neural networks based, deep learning machine translation engine can mean significant gains for some texts. However, using Google Translate or any other publicly available MT engine is definitely out of the question. We have developed our own MT engines in cooperation with Estonia’s leading experts, and we are developing them constantly. Our MT processes are secured at the highest level possible - this means that not a word translated in Technica will reach public text corpora or other MT engines.
What are the differences between just ordering a translation and setting up a registered account at Technica?
A registered account means having customized payment conditions, a personal Account Manager and a dedicated translation team, your own translation memory and termbase as well as other solutions tailored to your specific needs. How much can I count on the deadlines provided by the instant quote calculator?
The quote calculator offers realistic completion times; however, the binding time for us is confirmed in a mail from our customer service. The reason for this is that the quote calculator works automatically, based on preset parameters (languages, subject, volume), while the actual work files have to be reviewed manually in order to make sure that the calculation data correspond to the actual files.

No, Technica specializes in written translation services only.
